TO PLAY CRICKET IS EASY. TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME TAKES TIME.
This page will look at coaching situations that arise with students at Wirreanda High School. There is no doubt that some of these may also happen with players in other teams.
BATS-Young cricketers often want to imitate their heroes and one of these ways is by using the same type of bat. A common observation is that many young players use a bat that is too heavy. Although the bat looks good, young cricketers sometimes find it difficult to use it in the most effective manner because thay are not strong enough. Batters should be using a bat that is reasonably light so that it is comfortable enough to hit the ball as often as possible. A ball that lands in the wicket keeper's gloves while the batter is still playing his/her shot indicates that the bat may be too heavy. As a cricketer grows and becomes stronger they may choose to use a slightly heavier bat.
FOOTWEAR-A current fashion at present is that a lot of students wear shoes with laces undone. An example occurred in 2009 where a fast bowler was disadvantaged considerably by having his shoes fitting loosely and having laces undone.
