TO PLAY CRICKET IS EASY. TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME TAKES TIME.

BEN CAMERON CHRIS DAVIES CHALLENGE CUP 2013

WEDNESDAY 25th NOVEMBER

The fourth Ben Cameron-Chris Davies Challenge Cup game was played at Park 25 on Wednesday 25th November 2103.

Josh Farley-Farrant won the toss and decided that Wirreanda should take the field first. Unfortunately the plan did not go as successfully as hoped with The Heights School openers putting on 60 before Casey Chester took a good catch off Andrew Cowie-Taylor. The bowlers worked hard in hot conditions with The Heights reaching 2/145 before there was a promising fight back in which Wirreanda took 6/29. The comeback was led by Zach Young who bowled beautifully to finish with 3/30 off five overs. Trent Gale also contributed with 1/36 off his five overs. With The Heights looking to score quick runs at the end of their innings, three run outs occurred. Andrew Cowie-Taylor, Jake Moulder and Trent Gale were accurate in returning their throws to bring about these dismissals. The Heights finished on a total of 8/174 after their 35 overs.

When it was Wirreanda’s turn to bat Tyson Ames opened with Jake Moulder. However, a batting collapse happened before any of the top order batsmen could settle. The total reached 8/29 before the best partnership of 23 took place between Jake Cuming and Casey Chester. All of the team were really disappointed and felt let down by their effort.

During the presentations it was mentioned that a positive rivalry has developed between the two schools, and how most of the boys appreciate playing on a turf wicket.
A special mention must be made to Josh DeHeus who played in the first game and scored in the next three therefore being the only student who has had some involvement in all four games.
