The Open team played hosts to Hallett Cove School on Thursday 7th February at Wirreanda Secondary School. Josh Golding lost the toss and Wirreanda were invited to bat. Josh, who opened the batting with Alfredo Cabada, was dismissed for four. However, there were a number of good partnerships involving chad Thomson(14), Liam Hennessy(19), Lachlan Ferguson(17) and Shaun Johns who made his highest score for the school with 50. In the last few overs Warren Schutt(21no) and Addison Rodgers(13 no in 6 balls) scored very quickly to bring the Wirreanda score to 5/181.
The Hallett Cove innings took a dramatic turn when Alex Bittner, who was making his debut for the school team, took 3 wickets in his second over, and Josh Golding took two wickets in his fourth over to reduce the  score to 5/17. After several useful partnerships form the lower order batsmen, Hallet Cove made a slight recovery to finish with 107. The best bowling came from Josh Golding(4/8) and Alex Bittner(3/21). Richard Hore, Alfredo Cabada and Liam Hennessy all chipped in with one wicket each, and seven catches were held by the fieldsmen.
It was a good team effort where everyone contributed in a positive manner to the win.
A thank you must go to Bailey Sowter who scored and Haydon Taylor who took photos.
