TO PLAY CRICKET IS EASY. TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME TAKES TIME.

WIRREANDA HIGH SCHOOL vs HALLETT COVE SCHOOL

YEAR 8/9

WEDNESDAY 20th FEBRUARY 2013

Bodie Sowter, Michael Hirschausen, Thomas Thomson, Zac Young, Connor Panozzo, Richard Hore(scorer)
Jake Cuming, Brody Thomson, Casey Chester, Jackson Willoughby, Trent Gale, Andrew Cowie-Taylor.

The Year 8/9 team played their scheduled game at home against Hallett Cove School on Wednesday 20th February.
Bodie Sowter, captaining the team for the first time, won the toss and elected to bat. After a good start by Bodie and Michael Hirschausen, who took the score to 28, there was a mini collapse with 5 wickets being lost for 20. Thereafter, good contributions from Andrew Cowie-Taylor, Thomas Thomson and Connor Panozzo helped take the score to 77.
Dismissing the upper order Hallett Cove batsmen proved to be a challenging task for the Wirreanda bowlers. The eventual break through came when Thomas Thomson took a very good high catch off Connor Panozzo's bowling. Despite a few wickets falling, Hallett Cove were able to  pass Wirreanda's score to finish on 6/112 after 35 overs with a team hat-trick at the end of the innings.
There were very good performances from the two Year 8 debutants, Andrew Cowie-Taylor and Trent Gale. Andrew batted very well to make an equal top score of 14 and bowled four overs for only two runs. Trent bowled his four overs taking 3 wickets in one over and narrowly missing out on his own hat-trick.
The team played the game in a positive spirit, but just did not have enough runs on the board from their innings.
Thank you to Richard Hore who scored in his first game and to Josh Golding who took the photos for the game.
