The Year 10 campaign continued as the team travelled to Strathalbyn to play Eastern Fleurieu School on Friday 23rd March in the fourth round of the Twenty/20 competition. Addison Rodgers won the toss for Wirreanda and elected to bat, but Wirreanda were soon in trouble as they lost a wicket with the first ball of the match. Josh Golding(20) and Addison(14) batted quite well to take the score to 39 before disaster struck. Addison, Josh, Richard Hore, Warren Schutt and James Shugg were all dismissed without a run being scored. Wirreanda went from a respectable 1/39 to 6/39 in nine balls! Fortunately Kalem Greenwood(14) and Alfredo Cabada(15) put together a very good partnership that took the score to 9/84 at the close of the innings.

Eastern Fleurieu began their chase cautiously, but lost a wicket with the score at 16 with Addison Rodgers taking a nice catch at mid-wicket off Warren Schutt. Thereafter the runs came easily from the batsmen who took the score to 68 before the second wicket fell. Eastern Fleurieu were 4 wickets down when they reached the required total and eventually finished on 6/139 after 20 overs. Liam Hennessy bowled well to claim two wickets, while Kalem Greenwood, James Shugg and Rehn Wishart also chipped in for one wicket each. Aaron Bennett scored for this game.

The team is to be congratulated on winning three games and reaching the final eight of a very competitive group of schools. Addison Rodgers did a wonderful job of leading the team and organising different strategies that would assist the squad. Every student who played in the four games made a contribution, no matter how small, to the success of the team.
