Three  Specialist  Sport Cricket classes are running at Wirreanda High School this semester. There is a Year 8 group, a Year 9 class and a combined Year 9 and 10 group.

The Year 8 group have spent the first three weeks working on fitness drills, developing their fielding skills and basic batting tasks.

The Year 9 boys are an enthusiastic group who have really worked hard during their fitness training. Their 12 minute Cooper’s Run was completed in an impressive manner with everyone putting in a fantastic effort. Although Liam Mason and Brodie Kitchin completed 2900 metres and 2850 metres respectively, the class were very supportive of one another, particularly near the end of the run when they all motivated one another.

Finally, the Year 9 and 10 group have been working on their skills at the Morphett Vale ICA centre. Everyone in the class has had the opportunity of using the bowling machine. During their theory lessons the students have been studying a coaching course online called “Introduction to Cricket” run by Cricket Australia.
