HENLEY HIGH SCHOOL vs WIRREANDA SECONDARY SCHOOL
YEAR 8/9 T/20TUESDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2016
Mohit Khanna(umpire), Tyson Craigie, Tyler Cuming, Zach Robertson, Mitchell Sands, Gypsy Schirmer, Devin Edwards(umpire),
Jayden Hoffmann, Angus Somerville, Christiaan DeRoode, Lachlan Prior, Matt McLean.
The first round of this year's T20 competition against Endeavour Lutheran School was forfeited and so Wirreanda automatically went to their second round match against Henley High School at Henley.
Zach Robertson lost the toss and Wirreanda were asked to field first. There was an early break through in the second over of the game when Christiaan DeRoode bowled the captain of Henley for 8. Thereafter the Henley batsmen dominated completely and after their allocated 20 overs finished on 2/176. Lachlan Prior managed to pick up the other wicket. Despite the high scoring from Henley, the Wirreanda fielders performed very well.
When it was Wirreanda's turn to bat a number of early wickets fell that put the batters behind the run rate. However Zach Robertson batted magnificently for his total of 36 in a team score of 8/75. Matt McLean put in some resistance in the middle order followed by Christiaan DeRoode and Gypsy Schirmer who put up some resistance at the end of the innings for 20 minutes to prevent Henley from bowling the side out.
A special thank you must go to Devin Edwards and Mohit Khanna who umpired and took photos throughout the game.
