The Year 8-9 team travelled down the hill to Seaview High School on Monday 19th March for their round three game.Seaview won the toss and decided to bat first. Jaxon Newman took an early wicket with the score on 18. However, the next two batsmen complied a good partnership to take the Seaview score to 82 before Jayden Prime threw down the wicket off his own bowling to run out a batsman who was scoring freely. Although wickets were being taken at regular intervals, Seaview managed to reach a score of 8/187 after 35 overs. Jaxon Newman took 3/28 having bowled all of the batsmen. Hayden Newman(1/36), Jude Schirmer(1/22) and Llewelyn Wisman(1/16) all contributed with the ball, but Josh DeRoode was outstanding in the field taking a great catch at cover and running out two batsmen, including a direct hit.
Josh DeRoode and Jude Schirmer opened the batting, but both were dismissed cheaply. Jaxon Newman batted for 60 balls while making 12, and the only other batsman to contribute was Jayden Prime who made a well struck 20. Nick Wilden hit two fours at the end of the innings in his short partnership with Sean Perkovic, but Wirreanda were all out for 77 falling well short of their target.
Matt McLean scored during the game while Mohit Khanna umpired.
This campaign by the Year 8-9 team was a very successful one as the boys reached the final four of the competition. All the team played their part at some stage, with Josh DeRoode and Llewelyn Wisman both taking hat-tricks in separate matches. For more photos of game click here.
