TO PLAY CRICKET IS EASY. TO UNDERSTAND THE GAME TAKES TIME.

WOODCROFT COLLEGE  vs WIRREANDA SECONDARY SCHOOL

YEAR 8-9

FRIDAY 8th FEBRUARY 2019

Jaxon Newman(umpire), Dario Kovacevic, Sean Perkovic, Jude Schirmer, Eli Adams. Cameron O'Dea, Jaxon Williams,

Corey Slater, Oscar Klingberg, Liam Campbell, Cameron Prior, Matt Limpus.

The Year 8/9 team headed to Woodcroft College on Friday 8th February for the first round of the knockout cricket competition.
Jude Schirmer won the toss for Wirreanda and decided to put the opposition into bat. Although the opening bowlers were bowling straight for the first four overs, Woodcroft took control of their innings and built a good total of 9/172 after 35 overs. Dario Kovacevic 2/22, Cameron Prior 2/26 and Corey Slater 2/20 were the most successful bowlers, but Matt Limpus 1/14 and Sean Perkovic 1/10 also contributed with one wicket each. Jude Schirmer took a good catch and was involved in running out a batsman who was looking to build a good score. Matt Limpus took a wicket with the first ball that he bowled for the school.
The team’s effort of chasing down the runs was unfortunately too big a task for the batsmen. Wirreanda finished on 10/55 with only Dario Kovacevic putting up any resistance with a score of 18 made in 101 minutes and facing 72 balls. Cameron Prior batted for about 30 minutes scoring 8, but everyone else really failed to put any pressure on the bowlers. Both Dario and Jaxon Williams scored a run with the first ball they faced while representing the school.
Thank you also to Jaxon Newman who had the privilege of umpiring with a SACA 1st Grade umpire Mike Lake.
