The T/20 competition for Year 10 was played on Monday 25th February with the first round played at Blackwood High School.
Jaxon Newman won the toss for Wirreanda and decided to field first. The Blackwood batsmen took full advantage of some short bowling and scored 5/181 after their 20 overs. However of the five wickets that fell, four were clean bowled with Hayden Newman, Jude Schirmer, Josh DeRoode and Dawson Horrell being the contributors. Jason Horne was accurate in his throw during the last over to bring about a run out.

The chase was always going to be difficult. Dawson Horrell was first out in the second over for 0. Jason Horne(16) and Hayden Newman(20) batted defiantly until just after drinks when both were dismissed in successive overs. Jaxon Newman scored 2 before he was caught attempting to increase the scoring rate. Josh DeRoode made 4 before being caught too. Ryan Fitzpatrick decided he would score quickly or get out and was stumped for 1. Jayden Prime was bowled for 0 after facing 6 deliveries. Jude Schirmer was run out for 13 after a mix up with Dario Kovacevic. It was one of those comical situations that have occurred ever since cricket has been played, and no doubt will occur to other players in the future. Dario Kovacevic finished 6 not out while Sean Perkovic was 0 not out.

A thank you must go out to Jackie Newman who scored during a game in which there was plenty of action, as she needed to fully focus on the events going on in the field. Matt McLean has now had the opportunity to play, score and umpire school matches. He has been a positive influence in his involvement with school cricket teams and his efforts have been greatly appreciated by all people involved.
